Your auto insurance should have a rider concerning uninsured motorists where ever they may be from - even Mars. Plus, what's with this assimilating into the population properly? Seems to me that getting a valid driver's license would be a big step in the right direction.
I think Mod Mike was referring to the GOP held Congress blocking Obama and the Senate as to why nothing gets done. But if they weren't, where would this country be today?

I don't hate "immigrants," but as a resident of Colorado, I hate that we are bending over backwards to accommodate illegal aliens who shouldn't be here in the first place! I get tired of everyone who tries to blur the line between legal immigrants and immigrants who are here illegally who just can't seem to follow the rules.

Exactly. Also, in case no one has noticed, a driver's license is one of the most common ways to "legitimize" oneself as a citizen. This move just opens the door for more illegal immigrants (many of whom that indulge in other illegal activities) to purport themselves to be legal US citizens. It's going to all end very badly, and a couple of groups that will bear the backlash when it does are the millions of LEGAL immigrants, and also US born Hispanics with long family lineage in the United States who will be branded the same as the illegals in the eyes of much of the Anglo community.

We shouldn't be granting anything to illegal immigrants, we should be deporting them.

No there weren't . Nobody was processed to get into this country until the late 1800s, and that processing was only started to keep Chinese out. Immigration laws have been discriminatory since the beginning.

And until the 1990s, all Coloradans regardless of immigration status were issued driver's licenses. Driver's license proof of legal residence laws were passed to try and force Mexicans out of the country. It failed. Deal with it.

And there it is. Your real agenda is exposed. To try and limit the political power of non-white people.

No, the real agenda is to allow ONLY US-born Americans and LEGAL immigrants to this country to have US citizenship and the right to vote. There is nothing wrong with that.

This is a true story about the experience my ancestors endured coming to this country, bear with me:
My great-grandfather was supposed to come over on the Titanic (my relatives have the ticket to prove it), the night before leaving, he and his cousin got drunk and pinched a waitress in the butt, got thrown in jail and missed the boat. They made it out in time to come over on the Carpathia. Coming through Ellis Island he couldn't spell his name from Yugoslavian to English, so the staff, shortened his name and told him what his name would be. When he finally settled in Colorado, he took some English classes and immigration classes, people were rude to him, but that is what was required. He did quit, but didn't allow my grandfather and great aunts and uncles to quit. There were no concessions for them. They were required to speak English in school, my great-aunt even urinated her clothes because she didn't know how to ask to use the restroom. We are now dual citizens of what is now Croatia, through mountains of paperwork, being required to know history and the language.
I think the time of catering to people manipulating the laws are over. Yes, immigrating is hard, anywhere. One should not be rewarded for breaking the law. Colorado gives illegals in-state tuition, and now driver's licenses. Not that I'm in favor of it, but Sheriff's Departments don't enforce the gun control laws on the books. Where does it stop?! What laws do we as common citizens get to choose what we want to follow? I'm not talking about speeding, everyone does that. A simple thought, but something that has been eating at me for a while.

I served with several Ukrainians and other Eastern Europeans. They served so they could become US citizens. They were awesome, and extremely proud and willing to die for this country just to be here. They did it the right way.

I would like to see the statistics on how many American citizens have been killed on the roads by "illegal aliens"......and how many have been just flat murdered in other ways......! I know back in 2006 the stats I saw stated that 12 a day were done in by illegals.....Lord knows what it is now......All for increasing the voting rolls so a certain Political party can have their "Socialist Paradise" come to fruition.....

^Well, you are very unlikely to see any such statistics disclosed by the current corrupt Administration because the stats would demonstrate just how big a problem illegal immigrants are. You also won't see stats on how many illegals are tangled up with the Mexican drug cartels, either. It's plenty. Nor you will see stats on how many illegal immigrants enter this country for the sole purpose of having a child here, so that child is a US citizen and thus entitled to all kinds of government benefits at your expense. Again, it's plenty.

Having proof of insurance (on a vehicle - which you may or may not have) is not a requirement to get a driver's license:
A resident of Colorado is allowed to have either a Colorado Driver's License or an ID card. You may not have both.
( Colorado Revised Statute 42-2-114)
To be issued a Colorado Driver's License or Identification Card you must prove the following elements:
I had a driver's license for several years but no car - so didn't have insurance until I did finally get a car. Only when you register a 'vehicle' do you have to have proof of insurance.
