We are making a move out to the Denver area in Oct. When does the first snows usually come? I hoping we will not have to deal with any snow on the way out there.

You are expecting an un-usually thing snow in Oct. Well no doubt the global weather changing may be made possible this.

Just about every year it snows in October, sometimes it will snow closer to early Oct than others but we usually will have at least one snow by Halloween.

I would expect the first snow to occur by the end of October. I would also expect a day of at least 65 if not 75 degrees to occur after the first snow. (Not the day immediately following, but a few days to a week later)

Snow statistics:

Under that: Annual Snowfall Denver NWS
Note there is almost always snow in October. Also note these measurements are taken at the airport, so your particular situation may differ. No "official" snow in September since 2000. I'm predicting a September snow this year. One of my FB friends posted a picture of snow she got near Ward, yesterday!

I took my oldest up Mount Evans Saturday and it was snowing at the summit. We might get a September snow this year, and I'm ok with that.

Probably some sort of snow event in October but in Denver it will melt out so fast in Denver that it won't be any issue, just a cool memory.

I have a feeling this could be a unusual year with the first snow on the front range in the last week of September or first week in October.

I'm expecting a very heavy snow season for the Front Range. That's a total guess on my part based on the heavy summer monsoon season of 2006 being followed by those horrendous blizzards in December 2006 that closed Denver's supposedly un-closable airport. This year's monsoon and coolness feels like 2006. We'll see.
