I'm trying to move to Colorado, preferably the Denver metro area but not having any luck finding a place to live. No I do not have a job lined up but I do have enough money to get me by for a couple of months. I am a dental hygienist and feel it will not take me long to find a job. I have gotten calls for interviews in the past but unable to go since I live out of state. I have called on several apartments but as soon as they hear you are moving from out of state, they change their tune. I hear about people picking up and moving to Colorado all the time and don't know how they do it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I picked up and moved to Colorado back in '01 from another state. I set up 3 job interviews in the span of 2 days at the end of the week and made a small trip out of it. When you're there you can also do some apartment hunting and secure a place to live with a deposit. No one should care if you're renting from out of state as long as you put down a deposit. They're likely more concerned that you don't have income. You can pay first and last month's rent too just to show good faith.

Tons of jobs in the dental business in Denver....

If you know anyone out here, use their address / phone.

Perhaps take an extended stay motel for a couple of weeks. Be aware that rents are high here and vacancies move fast in Denver.

Colorado Springs has openings too and is a lot more affordable.

I thought about Colorado Springs but was told to be careful because the crime is high there. Don't know how true that is.

I did this as well....used a local address and just pretended I had already moved and was simply job hunting. I don't think the phone number change is necessary as everyone nowadays has different area codes.

Not high enough to not bother considering it.
