I went to Central, class of 91. Our class yell was the blue-and-white spirit that can't be out done were the mighty Wildcats of 1991! Love the school!

When you say school I'm assuming you mean elementary through high school. From what I understand District 70 (county) is much better than District 60 (Pueblo city). Some of the poorer city schools to avoid include the following--Freed Middle School, Pitts Middle School, Risley Middle School.

Most of 70 is decent though, especially those located out in Pueblo West where the community (and presumably the parental involvement and funding) is better; you can't really go wrong with Swallows Charter Academy, Skyview Middle School, or Pueblo West High School (which is huge and being expanded as we speak).

How can Pueblo be so incredibly....'cost competitive' in vs. Colorado Springs?

I feel like there must be some ...dirty little secret, lol, or something.
Otherwise the property values would be closer to other Colorado towns and cities.
Been lurking about on these forums for awhile, so... tell it to me straight.
What gives?

Are there large prisons or more environmental pollution going on in Pueblo?

How can it be so cheap to live there?

That's about it.

Thanks, have a great day!

Well, more so than Trinidad which would really deserve the title, it sort of FEELS like some kind of "Gateway to New Mexico." With all the connotations that go with THAT.

I mean, looking at having to come up from Continental Divide for job training in Denver, I calculated that Pueblo may be as close as one can get to Denver and have it still be affordable (minus, of course, the wear and tear on one's clutch from all the TRAFFIC the rest of the way...)
