Now you know where you'll be spending all of your vacation time for the next three years!
Yes, I plan to go to Ridgway every August, and to visit my elderly friend in Montrose as long as she's with us. I also very much liked my week of riding in Buena Vista and will go back there for a week after Ridgway. The house design guy is quartered in Montrose but comes to New Hampshire regularly, so will start meeting up with him soon right here.

A guy at work regularly announces how many days left before his retirement. I think he's somewhere around 5,000 now. Another guy used to leave and say "Another day closer to retirement," and I'd think, that annoying guy. Hey, I was young and had no concept!

Good on you, Bright DL, for having the courage to follow your dreams! I know how much research and effort you have made to find a town that's exactly right for you. If only more wanna-be Coloradans would just follow your example. I am so excited for you. You go, girl!

Thank you, Rambler. I am momentarily horrified at how overextended I am to pay for the land but if I just keep slogging for another year or so, should be able to move forward. I am having trouble living in the present with this in my future!

Brightdoglover,

I agree, it does feel right that you are participating as a resident-to-be.

It will be a privilege, indeed, and I intend to give back in volunteering, able to do so because I'm not going until I don't have to work (although I might work a day a week or so until I adjust to retirement). I think I am moving to a fairly coherent, evolving community and want to have my place and do my part in it.

It was 58 degrees and sunny this morning at 10am in the town park. Trees had a golden sheen from fall, the San Juans and Cimmarons were bathed in gold, orange, and yellow. Air was very crisp and fresh, had that mountain air smell. The town water truck was putting water on the streets to keep the dust down. Kate's Place was packed, cars parked on both side of the street, people sitting outside for tables. People were walking about, some walking their dogs, others going about their daily morning business.

Just a taste of your new home.
