We just moved to Grand Junction/ Fruita area, and we have recently been invaded by little black "beetles".
Or so I thought.
Somebody told us that they are actually STINK BUGS. Now, these guys are about and inch big, with hard exoskeletons and walk around with their butts in the air, so I can see how that might be. But in Texas, stink bugs are about 3 INCHES BIG and fly with long legs and antennae and softer bodies.
That being said, these guys here are everywhere!! I keep an incredibly clean house- dirt and germs gross me out- and doors closed, and still they come in. The other morning, I rounded up 11 OF THEM!! 11 !!
How do I get rid of them?
I have two chihuahuas, and don't want anything that will hurt them. We are also about to start for children, so something that won't hurt me either. I tried the EcoSmart all natural pesticide, but that didn't seem to work.
.
Can anybody tell me how to get rid of these nuisances??!!

Stink bugs! They are a nuisance, aren't they? What if you lined the perimter of your home with white rock? I heard it works for spiders. I don't know about stink bugs. I'm not much of a bug person, I just feel better when they're not around.

They're better than roaches and Palmetto bugs, that's for sure. But I would not be able to deal with them in the house.

Good luck with that.

Wait till summer and you get earwigs.

I had to spray the perimeter of the house every summer I lived there or those suckers would come in (shudder) the house.

Are they Box Elder beetles? Those are harmless and are just looking for a way outside to find some Box Elder seed pods to feed on. Just scoop 'em up and put them outside.

The stink bugs here don't really hurt anything and you'll find them all through the desert. Just scoop them up and toss them outside. They're pretty juicy, so it isn't a good idea to squish them

Well, White rock isn't something I want around the dogs- I looked it up and it didn't look too great for them.
They are not Box Elder Beetles- I looked those up too.
Now, Earwigs? I picture an old man when I see that!! What exactly are they? Are they a serous problem?
I guess Terminex is my next resort.

Thanks for the comments. If anyone else knows of a natural or home remedy for these irritants, please let me know!!
