It would be totally cool to see this happen:

https://www.codot.gov/news/2017-news...e-semifinalist

The CDOT team proposed construction of a first phase for the Rocky Mountain Hyperloop is a 40-mile route from Denver International Airport to Greeley, connecting the region's hub of transportation and commerce with the highest-growth areas of northern Colorado. With the rapid pace of population growth and land development, these major urban centers have become one megatropolis. Hyperloop would accelerate this evolution, and better connect centers of activity and industry.

This is so exciting, I hope it happens. I wonder how much a ticket will cost.

This is huge news and combined with what is going on in Colorado would cause the entire front range urban corridor to economically grow faster then ever.

I found myself wondering about that too. Not to mention things like security, and stop times?

Don't get me wrong, I think this would be cool. I just kinda wonder about the overall effect. My first thought was that this could be great for people who work in Denver, but can't afford it anymore--they could move to places like Cheyenne, or Pueblo, where housing is cheaper, but still have short commutes. But then I started thinking, "If the ticket prices are high, then who does it really help?"

Same in Pueblo as it was all over my facebook feed. Especially combined with Amtrack wanting to make Pueblo a stop.

A couple of points:

Colorado is one of 35 semi-finalists.

While the concept is to move people and goods great distances at 700 miles per hour "at a fraction" of the cost of airliners", what they've done so far is move one prototype vehicle 192 miles per hour over a very short distance (about 1/3rd of a mile if I understand correctly). I think there is existing bullet train technology going as fast or faster and over far, far longer distances.

$160 million in capital raised so far. Probably 1/100th- 1/1000th of what is needed for ONE project of significant scale.

Elon Musk conceived of the approach but declined to pursue it because he is too busy.

Some original top officers quit and sued the company for fraud. The company counter accused and sued. They settled. I haven't looked into the details. But... not a good sign.

I will listen... but I'll also watch the public wallet. Very, very, very closely.
