National Geographic bestselling author Dan Buettner and Gallup’s social scientists teamed up to develop an index that assesses measurable expressions of happiness and identifies where Americans are living their best lives. Designed by Gallup senior scientist Dan Witters, the study established 15 metrics—from eating healthy and learning something new every day to civic engagement, financial security, vacation time, and even dental checkups—that signal happiness.

examine the questions and results and see how absolutely narrow this 'survey' (?) was.

Results PRECISELY as would be expected. Upwardly mobile demographic who ALREADY has all the perks in life.

They should be VERY happy, just like those who have the free time / money / freedom to cruise and comment on C-D.

Happy, 'well off' campers.... life is very rosy from our perspective. (We all are very fortunate)

So money does buy happiness.

Well I am sure any survey or study on "happy cities" appearing in National Geographic isn't taken too seriously, but it gives them bragging rights for a week or two anyway and God love all the pot smokers, maybe they help make the cities "happy" I will leave it at that; living in Colo I guess is great for many, not us. Our granddaughter graduated from Colo State, then left the state and only returns when she visits her in laws. My dad was raised in Colo, and I went to CU for a year: Dad was a grad. I have to say, Boulder was a happy place even back in the 50s cause we could drink beer under 21.

It was Nat Geo with Gallup, but certainly people will disagree with the results. Fort Smith in your home state made the list as one of the bottom 3.

It's gotta be #FakeNews. I mean nobody who moves here stays very long. They move here because of the "hype" and find out Colorado's all hat and no cattle. We're "isolated," full of "libs," our economy is terrible, we're openly hostile to transplants (especially Texans), we're anti-business, we hate energy companies, our income tax rate is exorbitant, the 15-round magazine limit and background check gun laws are "draconian," there are literally no trees and no water here, the outdoor amenities are over-hyped, the mountains aren't all that impressive, the summers are extremely hot, and winters are bitterly cold and last for 9 months.</sarcasm>

Like Dave says they're just here for the pot. Enjoy your 70 degree Black Friday.

Silly person, you forgot that part about how we live in igloos under ten feet of snow and have snow tunnels to get from house to house, that everyone here has a BMI of 40, diabetes is our state flower, there's an all you can eat slop house on every corner, that those "people of Wal Mart" photo spreads are all from Pueblo, and that religious radicals stop cars on the street and forcibly baptize people in Fountain Creek in the name of the father son and please please please help us pay the mortgage on our grandiose temple. </sarcasm>

I'm happy.

Wonderful weather most of the year, abundant outdoor recreation and sunshine, and a booming economy with a 2.4% unemployment rate. Why not?
