I was wondering, does colorado have a definite fall? Or does it go from summer to winter? Reason being, we are thinking of moving there, but I love watching trees change colors (and didn't know if they did there), so just thought I would ask! Thanks!!

Yes the trees change color around here but not as dramatic as other areas.

We have a summer then fall, then indian summer then winter.

It can, however, get into the 60s or even 70s in December and January. Kind of throws people off but yes, we do have a sort of fall but not like on the east coast.

Now those temps are more for the Front Range rather than say the Western Slope.

But don't kid yourself, it can get as high as 100° in many places around Colorado in the summer. But can be as cold as -20° as well in winter.

Colorado is fun, it's nice but as I mentioned to someone earlier, you will see people in their shorts when it's in the 30s around here.

But yes, we have a sort of fall and it's a wonderful season because it can still be "hot" depending on where you live.

There have been some Octobers where I have still been picking tomatoes--and yes, wearing shorts and t-shirt.
There have been others where we were shoveling snow.
I believe Denver's first snowfall for this season was October 17.
You just never know.
The aspen gold up in the mountains are usually very pretty in mid-September.

I have begun to notice the Canadian Geese flying south for the winter...so winter has officially arrived 2 weeks early.

I know some of them won't leave the state. They find the ponds and golf courses irresistible, and take up residence.

We drive into the mountains every year in mid to late September to see the changing leaves. Although not as dramatic as the changing leaves in many other areas of the country it is still beautiful to see the golden Aspens against the green pines.

Here's my pix of fall color, an hour from Colorado Springs, in the mountains. We get lots of color here in town too.

The Aspen trees are a fabulous golden color in the fall, and there are some other trees, but not the reds and oranges you'll see in New England or the eastern mountains. Still, come to Colorado, you'll love it here.

I used to say that the geese were migrating between City Park and Wash Park
