I am visiting for a few days and am looking for a nice hike that could be accomplished without winter equipment that is within a few miles of downtown Glenwood Springs (we don't have a car).

There may be some trails out of Carbondale (next door) (and transit in between)

Try to get transit to Maroon Bells!!!!

While in Glenwood Springs... we Loved Buttermilk skiing (30+ yrs ago...)

Winter snowy nights in Glenwood Hot Springs Pool are very memorable!! (discount rates at night)
Be careful...we ended up coming home with a new baby on the way.

Hanging Lake is stunning. Don't know its status in winter.

Here's a site with some nearby hiking trails. https://www.visitglenwood.com/things-to-do/trail-guide Some look pretty doable in winter and may be near enough to your location to manage without a car - you'll need to check for more info based upon where you will be located. Be careful - without winter equipment some of these may not be advisable but some look urban enough that they should be okay. Your hotel may be able to advise you as to specific conditions.

This. It’s only a mile, but steep.

Nobody mentioned Glenwood Canyon? Almost too easy of a recommendation.

Rent a bike and ride up Glenwood Canyon for about 7 miles to the hydro power plant.

The path is paved and it follows the river so it's not too steep. The scenery is gorgeous.
