Situation still is the same with the Durango fire.


Temps in Mesa County? 101 degrees in GJ today, to be 104 tomorrow. At least the wind isn't howling.

I have to go to GJ tomorrow and am stunned at the weather- might as well be Phoenix.

Too hot up in Ridgway, mi-90s. When is any monsoon?!

Well, I spoke too soon. KJCT announced a red flag warning for NW Colorado for this afternoon.


They also mentioned that due to the lowest water levels ever recorded at the reservoir in Ridgway State Park that the swim beach has been closed.

It's always over 100 in Junction in the summer it's the desert. It was 104 at my house yesterday.

Total Personnel: 389 Cause: Under Investigation
Resources Include: 4 Type 1 hand crews, 4 Type 2 hand crews, 12 engines, 1 dozers, 1 water tender.
Helicopters: Two Type 1, one Type 2, and one Type 3, and one fixed wing aircraft.

KJCT reports this fire is located east of Ft. Garland, 15-20 miles SE of the Great Sand Dunes National Park. There are dozens of homes located there and the Costilla Cty. sheriff's department is ordering evacuations.


This one looks to get real ugly.

Spring Fire: Highway 160 closed between Fort Garland and Highway 12. La Veta Pass is closed, not good for east / west commerce.
