Seems like CO. is turning into the place (s) everyone is trying to escape from- pretty sad for those of us who grew up here.

Like most folks who grew up here when we retire we will say ADIOS!! Unfortunately the rest of the country is going through the same thing (MT., ID, WA. etc..).

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot-

On to the next place to spoil!

sad... Does not look good for the Ag / forest / recreation centric counties in Colorado (and the majority of the remaining part of the state you might want to PROTECT!) nor for anyone living WEST of Boulder County.

This is not unique to Colorado, it is happening all over the country. The cities have been Democrat for over fifty years in many places, now the suburbs have gone Democrat. Therefore, the large, greater metro areas (city, and suburbs) are mostly voting Democrat. The geographical tail is wagging the dog, but that is where most of the population has gone. Small areas with dense population are now ruling entire states.

Nope.
Too many Dimocrats, Socialists and Commies in the city.

The suburbs, on the other hand.
But, you really should be LDS.

If you have school aged children, please note that Colorado's TABOR has put budget pressure on schools. The projected or anticipated revenues from cannabis legalization hasn't been able to fill the gap. I guess that's CO's version of Prop 13, which wasn't necessarily good for public school funding in CA.

I've seen CO continually become more like CA. If you really want to get away from CA, pick another state.

Colorado is certainly not as liberal or tax burdened as California but will it get there?

I’m not sure going to Colorado Springs or Grand Juction let’s you avoid the state taxes and laws.

I plan to stay here unless things get out of control.

Pretty sure Co. Spgs. has the highest sales taxes in the State now- over 8%.

People actually move because of politics?

OP ~

What is it about Colorado you're really drawn to?

I think Boise was a terrific suggestion. It is growing rapidly ~ as is everywhere ~ but it's political climate is, I'd say, "mildly conservative" (but a far cry from the political lunatics in CA). Cold enough winters and hot summers, but it's beautiful and clean .... Idaho itself is beautiful .... and you have access to many outdoor activities.
