Is anyone familiar with the area between Delta and Grand Junction? It seems it may get in the high 90's during the summer which isn't too appealing. The Gunnison River looks nice in photos- is it clean -good for swimming -kayaking in this portion?

These links may help. https://tinyurl.com/y8nf5ezw

May have hit 100 today.

Check with an outfitter or government agency on water levels.

This might be about least good time to come. Spring would have the snowpack runoff. After the monsoons start the water levels might be better.

There area between Delta and Junction? There's nothing there, it's desert. It pretty much stays 100 and above all summer with hot howling wind and dust. Not a pleasant place at all.

Nothing? On the contrary. There is a beautiful wilderness area with ancient petroglyphs, evidence of our mining history and majestic colorful canyons. But don't tell anyone. There is nothing to see. Move along.

The canyons along that area are amazing. But it is HOT there.

The area between Nucla and Gateway is one of the more spectacular drives in Colorado and few people ever will drive it.

I've heard of Dominguez Canyon, but I thought it was four wheel drive and hiking. I think calling it a "highway" would be misleading.
