I was Colorado about 3 yrs ago, stayed in Alamosa, drove all over. Unfortunately cannot remember name of the town but it was beautiful. Had like a valley with either river or large stream with homes on the main road were mountains more like cliffs, there were mountain sheep on the cliffs, deer thru out. Seemed to be very small down , not much there. If anyone has any ideas where that was I would love to go back and stay for a visit, thanks.

From Alamosa, Pagosa Springs or Salida could be candidates.

That's a very broad description and depending on which way you were driving and for how long, could be numerous areas. You could also add Del Norte, South Fork, Creede, Poncha Springs, or some of the little townships along Highway 50 to your list. Heck, even Telluride could fall into that description.

I suspect Creede may be what you thinking of. Its got some distinctly sheer cliffs around it and it is just over an hour away from Alamosa.

Possibly Dolores, minus the deer everywhere part. I suppose lots of deer might invade downtown during hunting season, to escape the hunting areas they would otherwise inhabit.

I was thinking the same thing. Certainly not Telluride or Salida. He said felt like there wasn’t much there. Freeze demos have cliffs.

OP, Check these images.

I was thinking Dolores myself. That or one of the little towns on Highway 50 between Salida and Canon City.

I think Creede is a possibility. Check out some images of the town. Lots of cliffs and the road in follows the Rio Grande. We saw big horns between there and Lake City last year.
