Thanks for the replies. I lived in Manitou for a few months, a few years ago. We were looking at a short trip back to CO and Breckenridge looks really nice, but I was wondering if it was going to feel like being back in Manitou. Not that it's bad, we loved it and may just go back there.

I've never found it to be as she described.
Just to clarify ...I had a great time, nothing 'bad'.

It was just funny, an observation to bring up...if someone was comparing...like, NYC has snobs,
Bev Hills, also ...the Midwest doesn't. Snobs don't bother me, personally...they're just silly...
Why, because I have running shoes and jeans on?....hahaha.

Oh, and Manitou has way more hippie, bearded, scruffy types...see, that may sound negative...
most are my friends. See how a sentence can be taken 2 ways...LOL.
Just observations for a visitor asking. Piece.

Btw, forgot to mention...there is a lot of pot in both places...except in Manitou you can buy it,
even with no residency or MD prescription...just a dr. license.
You will see some street improvements in Manitou.
Prettier now...and maybe there was no metered parking when you were there, is now.

Little known factoid....if you put 3 hrs in the meter at one end of town ...you can drive to the other end and you are still in the system!!
So you know the funk of Manitou cuz you lived there, cool.
They just had their first murder last night in 5 yrs...a scuffle that went downhill fast at a small an apt building. Could happen anywhere.

The drive to Breck is worth it alone.

Anyone can buy it at any dispensary anywhere in the state.
Amendment 64 passed in 2012 making Colorado one of the first states to legalize recreational marijuana.
Breckenridge decriminalized it in 2010 it before it was legalized in the state.
(Colorado legalized medical marijuana in 2000.)

I don't find any similarity between the two towns.
