My husband is considering a job in Grand Junction. I would like to know the best school districts to live in in the area. We can spend up to $400,000 on a home. What are the best districts in or around the Grand Junction area, it does not have to be in Grand Junction, anywhere within a 40 mile radius.

Thanks so much

All of Grand Junction is served by Mesa County Valley School District #51.

Default I should have said schools...

Since the entire area is under one district what are the best schools-elementary through high school.

I would stay away from the eastern end of the valley, where poverty is pretty high. I teach at an elementary school in the area and we often have major problems with classroom behavior. Our test scores are pretty pathetic too. If you can spend up to $400K on a home, I would look at the Redlands, the North area, or even Fruita. All of the schools in these areas are pretty good. Great elementary schools are Broadway, Wingate, Scenic, Appleton, and even Orchard Ave. I know West Middle School, right downtown, is really great as well. Fruita High School is probably the best, followed by Grand Junction High. You can get on the district website and check out the schools and test scores yourself. Of course, remember to take test scores with a grain of salt. Just because a school has really great test scores, doesn't necessarily mean it is a great school. Hope this helps!

Redlands Mesa, hands down. Yes, I live here, and as a kid I went to several other schools. Definitely RM.

I agree, Redlands.

I went to FMHS. Everyone was ridiculously intolerant of students that didn't fit into their preconceived molds of success (read: the faculty didn't care about you unless you were in FFA or played football). Of course, that was a number of years ago. Fruita is a little more developed now.

Watch out for the juggalos, lol.
