Pueblo gets a lot of undeserved hate, in my opinion. And I do think much of that is based in classist/socioeconomic biases.

It's definitely a growing city, but since forever I've been thinking "Pueblo is gonna take off soon...Pueblo is gonna take off soon...Pueblo is gonna take off soon." I wonder if local leadership is hampering it, but everything I've seen from far away indicates the city's government has been trying to be forward-thinking.

Pueblo has crime, teenage birth rate, and educational system performance problems its been dealing with for some time. Add in that the city government has typically been very convoluted to deal with and the rampant homerism of many of its people and businesses, and it becomes very difficult if not impossible to attract new business. Without new business and good schools, you don't grow.

It's a closed loop, self licking lollipop, i.e., "without good schools" you just get more "crime, teenage birth rate, and educational system performance problems..."

I like it too, but also don't live there. I have a few friends who do live there and like most municipalities it does kind of matter where you live but I would have no problem choosing to live in Pueblo, imho.

My grandparents born in the 20s and prior, called in Pee-eb-low or pew eb low; but everyone else in their right mind calls it Pweb low

Definitely a generational and geographical difference in pronunciation. Most I've met in Pueblo as well as Grandparents say Pew/Pee eb low.

I like Pueblo. Its got a lot of neat things about it, but looking at where I'd want to live, my employment prospects, and my kids ages means it would not work out for me. So I visit it instead of living there.
