Interesting! Just don't confuse it with our snowpack, which is still below average.

A very big storm is slated to come through in the next few days with possibly feet of snow in high areas, up to 5 feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains west of Colorado.

I watched the Weather Channel earlier and very big is the word all right. It'll cover most of the 48 over the next couple days. Mesa County doesn't get their snow in feet except for the Grand Mesa but it will still get three to six inches, looks like. My sister lives in Bailey and I told her best to stock up at King Soopers in Conifer as this one might be a big one.

Not much predicted here in Montrose/Ridgway. Just the rest of the country!

So far, about an inch-plus on the ground. Air temp mild, so some of it has melted. But I worry about the frigid nighttime temps to come soon. If this stuff doesn’t dry up or at least soak down into unpaved surfaces, it’s gonna get real slick.

Over here in Mesa County it is now starting to sleet. But around midnight last night the wind was crazy at times, waking me up around 1:30 and 3:00 this morning. The local tv stations were predicting high winds, well we got that all right. A few dozen gusts up to 50-60 m.p.h.

Add--ten minutes later and now a light rain. The moisture is supposed to be here later this afternoon. I don't know, we'll see.

More moisture coming in! A good steady rain in Fruita turned to snow around 11 this morning, then back to rain around 3 this afternoon. The next several days look to be familiar, in the high country anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of snow is forecast.

Last edited by Mike from back east; 12-28-2022 at 05:23 PM.. Reason: Spell check error, you wrote Fruita but displayed as fruits.

Rain and a bit of snow showers and now some blue sky here in Ridgway. Not much of a storm here!
