So, we should trash our country because other countries are trashing theirs? That's ridiculous.

Been to Texas or Oklahoma lately? (they are close to CO) We pick up (3) 30 gal trash bags of litter every week we are at our Texas residence, along a fairly remote country road.

On the other hand... there is a lot of energy content in plastics. Many countries 'properly' incinerate their trash. When we lived in Singapore, the country used trash to create their electric power, and used the ash to grow their tiny island country. Our apartment was on Beach St. Now several blocks from the ocean.

There are all kinds of viable solutions.

The “everybody else does it” excuse.

The government doesn't have solutions to the problem, it only creates them. We the people find ways around it or emphasize. If the bag ban happened here in AZ, I already have the reusable freezer bags and collapsible plastic totes.

And that's perfectly fine under the law. Shoppers are not banned from bringing their own bags of any sort. The law applies to stores and restaurants.

I still pay for bags from a supermarket everytime I order online. They charge me for the material open top bags. I have a lot because they put two items in one bag when they cut down on the number of bags if added more items in each bag. They do that because they, obviously, want to make an extra profit.

Pete is a great guy! I thought his store was exempt anyway, but good for him finding another solution.

Bought the Walmart bags and I noticed that, although they are reusable, I don’t think they’ll last very long…

This is such a weak sauce argument. If it weren't for the government we'd still be insulating crap with asbestos, using lead paint and leaded gasoline, and drinking PCBs in our water. Government isn't the answer to everything, but neither is laissez-faire capitalism.
