The incubation period is a few days. (Sorry, I don't have my cheat sheet from work with me!)

Good luck on your return to New England. I love Durango and have seriously considered relocating there next year, but it's a tight battle between there and New Hampshire. That area of New England seems to offer it all.

Are you returning to Massachusetts?
Not sure where I will end up, but it will happen in the next 9 months when my son graduates from High School.

If you guys think Colorado is dry and dusty-- try Arizona. There they have an actual respiratory disease called "Valley Fever" that supposedly everybody who lives there long enough gets sooner or later, whether or not they have symptoms. The only season that I traditionally do not like in Colorado (Denver, that is) is May through early June-- even though that's some of the best temperatures of the whole year that's also the worst allergy season for me. One thing I've noticed though, since I've been moving back and forth between different regions the last several years (out of state college student) I've been able to somewhat "beat" the allergies for a while. Fall is the absolute best time of the year in Colorado-- and I've missed out on it for the last five years now!

August 2008, I had a terrible cold, that I couldn't kick. Itchy eyes, phlegm, sore throat, etc.

Both were gone come September too.

Generally, I hardly ever get any kind of sick. I find it weird, however, that August is the time of year that gets me.
Maybe you're allergic to something that's in the air in August. Incidentally, I've been to the Front Range 5 times so far: 4 years ago in June, then May, July, February, and finally this past August. This August I had almost no issues compared to the other times where I had varying degrees of stuffiness, sneezing, etc. Aside from the season, the only thing i did differently this time was to use saline nose spray a couple time a day from the start. Maybe that kept my nose just moist and healthy enough. We also had a couple days of rain this time I hadn't experienced before in Denver so the humidity could have been higher than normal this time.

Yeah, I was thinking it was probably something in the air at that time of the year, that would cause me to react like that.

Anybody know how I can find out what it could be?

Fall is upon us and things are starting to ripen. It could be any number of things I would imagine.

Add: That's it! Diesel fuel makes sense! I love diesel fuel myself. I could bathe in it. I miss my 99 and 97 Powerstroke F-350 crewcabs! But the company paid for the fuel. I couldn't imagine owning one myself with those prices! I hear that modern day diesel has way less sulfer in it from years past. Wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Funny how soo many have an issue with August!

I have lived in Denver my whole life. I have NEVER had any allergies whatsoever!!!!!!!!

In the late 80's, I developed such horrible allergies (In my lungs and skin), I thought I would die!!!! WHAT???? ME????
I had pnoenomia (sp...sorry!) 2 times a year. and........my hands had such a itchy horrible thing, (I wanted to cut them off!!!!!!!)

Turns out,......I was allergic to DEISEL FUEL!!! Yep, you guessed it,.....schools start back up in August 10 fold!!!!!!!!! I got P, every single time I had been off...ie/ summer...then sick in August.....spring break...then sick in April/March....every single year for 6 years!!!!!!!
It took several doctors to diagnose me!!!
By the way......If I am around a lot of traffic or deisel (even highway black top resurfacing) I continue to have problems!!!
Diagnosis?????? I am allergic to oily petroleum products! Who Knew??
Laryngitis is a constant problem for me.
BTW.......I was a School Bus Driver when all of this started! Think about it!!

You could go to an allergist.

I haven't read the other posts here and I will say, someone had some issues with health. Not uncommon here but not commen either.

Look, I have lived here all my life and I find it a great place to live even if I would like to move to other places in CO.

No it's not a place for everyone, pardon me. CO is pretty awesome and as a lifetime resident, I have 'tried" to live in Louisiana and it was a disaster. No mountains, no fresh air, even as a smoker that place was horrible.

I point you to: //www.city-data.com/forum/color...to-thread.html

Not everyone lives with problems. My health is pretty good, my life is pretty good. This is a good place to live if you want it. it's all up to your health and crap, my 71 year old father does well here.

Snap. He's an old fart and he does just fine here.
