Nice to hear that I 70 is a good highway. Any idea as to how popular the four states corner is? Worth the money for the tourist site? From four corners to the south rim, thanks for the tip about the sun - I'll make sure the sunglasses are on. Any idea what time the sun goes down in mid August?

I cannot believe that the highway was once 666 - good to hear that they have changed the name - many accidents on this road?
The drive from Lincoln to Junction is all Interstate, which means at least 4 lanes and 65-75 MPH speed limit pretty much the whole way. The only exceptions will be Denver and west. Probably a lot of traffic in Denver, obviously, and once you get west of there into the mountains, you will run into lower speed limits, but will still have at least 4 lanes. The other routes you suggested will not...they will be winding with few passing opportunities.

It looks like taking I-70 into Utah, then 191 south to 491 to the four corners is the best option based on what you're wanting to do. Admission to the 4 corners is $3/a person. Sunglasses will not help you on Hwy 160.

4 lanes from about 225 to Denver West, right? Unless you mean 2 lanes going east and 2 lanes going west. Well actually 76 drops you onto 70 after 225.

I remember seeing 3 lane highways in Michigan. And the trucks can't get into the far left lane. It's great.

and 160??

Hi there

So when in Denver is traffic bad? Google Maps suggests that the drive from Lincoln to Denver is about 6 3/4 hours.
  • When does rush hour end?
  • Is it difficult getting across the city?
  • Is it worth it to stay on the 76 to the Arvada marketplace then take the 70 out of town or go through the center of town (I think it is either the 87, 25 or 6) past the Pepsi Center, Six Flags, Broncos stadium) then head west on the 6th ave Fwy?

After the city limits of Denver,
  • From other posts - the drive is mountainous and steep? Looks like some stop areas on the hwy.
  • Any towns to avoid due to price gouging?
Why will sunglasses not work on the 160? Sun just too bright and low enough on the horizon so that the visors do not work?

Thanks

Exactly. 160 in NE Arizona runs WSW - directly into the setting sun.

I don't know of any specific towns to avoid...gas is expensive in all of them in the mountains west of Denver.
