Oh, no it didn't. We moved here 28 years ago, and there was a Democratic governor (Lamm), one Democratic senator (Gary Hart), and at least one US Rep (David Skaggs), of three or four at the time. I've said this over and over again-we are INDEPENDENT here.

man i feel sorry for you ....old ignorant republican that is so set in your ways that you can't see change. Obama is going to help the middle class . I can see you being mad if you make over 250,000 a yr cause you may see a tax increase but honestly anyone making that much doesn't deserve to get breaks. Mccain was going to continue what Bush has already F***** up. Granted voting was like picking between a Douche bag and a turd sandwich because they have their weaknesses but i'm just glad to see DEMOCRATS back in charge hahaha

But whatever dude man , if it doesn't work for you that sucks, good luck to you tho

ryanek9freak, didn't Ohio go blue too? Must have been all the Californians there too, huh?

Dude, my spouse and I have probably paid more in taxes than you've ever earned in your life. I could be wrong, but you assumed for some reason that we're ski bums or something (nothing could be further from the truth!).

That's not to say you don't work hard, I'm sure you do. But we do, too.

Don't you know that most rich people vote Republican to protect their bank accounts? This joe the plumber stuff is incredible. It's theatre that the Republicans use to dupe working class people into thinking they're on their side.

Thankfully people saw through it, finally.

Make no mistake we are in fiscal meltdown. Things are going to be really really tough. But we know life isn't a fairy tale, and you don't get something for nothing.

Let's all join together and pray for the success of the new administration and for the health of our country.

Ryan, I've met hundreds of other former Californians since I moved here a couple of years ago, and my spouse and I are the only Norcal Liberals in the crowd. Douglas County, at least, is filled to the brim with Orange County Republicans, and I'll bet 99% of them voted for McCain and Schaffer. It is an extremely conservative area. I find Centennial to be more purple, but it's not the Californians voting blue. Once again, they are the conservatives. I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

David, you make a good point about Ohio. My 80-year-old grandfather, a life-long southwest Ohio Republican, voted for Obama, and so did many of his 12 brothers & sisters. The Republican party had to really screw up to lose that crowd!

I, for one, will be very happy if this Neo-con rousting forces the party back to its roots. And, nothing will bring me more joy than seeing Karl Rove escorted to the door. After years of the "If you're not with us, you're against us" mentality in our executive branch, it will be wonderful to have a president who seeks common ground. I'm tired of the polarization and the religious fanaticism that masquerades as politics in this country, and I'm thrilled to have elected Obama as our next president. I just hope he's up to the job!

I left Ohio for that very reason David.

Default I refuse to eat crow this time

I'll give Barack Obama his chance. Like he said, "If you didn't vote for me, I need your help too. I'm your President too."

And you could you not be proud of him from a Civil Rights perspective?

As was said, you can't just blame California. Look at what's changed in Nevada, New Mexico, almost Montana and Nebraska and Missouri, Iowa, Florida, INDIANA!!!!!!!!!!! OHIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably North Carolina.

It's time to start putting down the stereotypes and get back to work. Some Democrats DO work! I've seen it with my own eyes. In fact, there's such a thing as a conservative Democrat. My dad, who immigrated from Ireland is one. I can't sway his views and he can't sway mine. But when W won not once, but twice, they shook my hand and congratulated me and said "We'll support him." With gritted teeth though. I considered W the lesser of two evils. I still think Gore and Kerry were ridiculous and that W, stupid or not, was dealt a really bad hand.

Time will tell. If things get better and we head back up, we'll know. If we fall, we can just say "Wow! I thought we were supposed to get 300 to 400 years before we fell." In any case, I ain't going down without a fight.

At least it's good to see this much of America agree on anything! Might as well go with the flow and see what happens.

The blue, or the Californians?

There are still a few red states left for you my friend, Utah comes to mind, isn't it really just an inside-out Colorado?
