Playing off the Pueblo thread, I think Grand Junction and the surrounding area is still somewhat unknown to a lot of Coloradoans. We think its beautiful and filled with so many things to discover.

I think there are a number of places fairly near Grand Junction that are beautiful. I think GJ itself is mostly average on beauty and the immediate views from GJ are mostly below average. Imo. But I try to learn more and try to maybe back off from that assessment. If I found GJ itself beautiful I might have moved there earlier. Still some chance but it mostly would be for other reasons (location, size, university, medical care, weather, etc.).Within GJ, any pictures of prettiest neighborhood? Nicest park? Google maps street view is useful (and I use it) but have to click a lot and still could miss stuff. Downtown looks pretty good. The strip commercial development not so much, though they are part of most bigger places.

You can see the Bookcliffs, Mt Garfield, the Grand Mesa and the Colorado National Monument from many a street corner in GJ. So the views in town are pretty spectacular. Yes, there is urban sprawl in parts. The railyards are in town and there are industrial areas. But compare it to the Springs, Pueblo, Ft Collins, and other similar size towns and it holds its own and probably surpasses most of those places. They all have the same negatives as GJ.
Redlands Mesa pictured in several of my photos above is 3 miles from downtown. That would be my choice for prettiest neighborhood in GJ and perhaps in Colorado. Though some might enjoy the 7th St historic district north of downtown with its tree lined streets and older homes. Nicest park? The Monument is one of the most stunning parks in Colorado.
GJ is not for everyone and maybe that’s why we enjoy it so much. It still feels like Colorado.
