I have lived in CA my entire life and let me tell ya, not only is there a huge immigration issue, but gas is now $3.69 per gallon, every week they raise food prices and I just read an article in the local paper that said " CA is the highest priced on food and in the next couple years we will see food prices go thru the roof ". And the beaches suck, they are polluted and overcrowded with illegal immigrants. Also, where I live ( Inland Empire) housing is pretty cheap compared to the rest of the state. When I bought my house 10 yrs ago, I paid $130K, now its value is probably around $400K. So Im thinking, Im gonna sell and move to CO to buy my dream home on 10 acres for $150K , boy was I wrong about that. Anyway, I am fed up with all the people here and their disrespect and overall disregard for others. Here's an ironic story. Last year when I fell and broke my ankle, had to have surgery, was off my feet for 3-4 months recouping. I am self employed, so not being able to work, I ran thru my savings and borrowed from family. Finally, I went and filed for some financial assistance. I was told that because" I owned a home and had a vehicle they could not help me"(by a woman who had a thick hispanic accent). Not to offend anyone, I just don't understand how Im an american citizen and tax payer and I can't get financial help when I need it, but if you dont speak english and you're not american you get aid the same day ! It's just wrong, but how do you change it ! Oh yeah, one more thing, there are numerous pedophiles and gangsters through-out SoCal, which is another reason I want out ! Don't even get me started on the school system !

Blessings

He's as angry and bitter about L.A. as ILUVNM sounds. What do I do? I tell you what I do, I'll move to Colorado with him and see if I can make it work. Like I've said, I believe you create your own life and happiness and I choose to make mine as happy a life as I can. One way of doing that, of course, is to visit my many, many friends and family in L.A. as often as possible! lol. Which will most certainly be when it's snowing, in Colorado. I hate the snow! lol. If that doesn't work out I'll take a page out of your book and move to Hawaii!
LAgirlatheart, I am not bitter or angry, I just reported what I saw. Somehow if you dont love LA you get bashed on the forum. Not everyone thinks LA is great. I have a positive attitude and live a carefree happy life so please dont slight me for just reporting what I see. You are the one who seems bitter and angry on having to move to Colorado. I just know you are going to hate it because you already have the mind set to hate it. I would go with a "wait and let me see" mentality and who knows, you might just fall in love with Colorado like me. And about Hawaii, trust me I have been there many times, my uncle lived there, it has it troubles too, drugs "ice" are rampant, poverty is very high and crime is high too. I hope you are happy in Colorado, but somehow, unless you change your attitude, I dont think you will.

ILUVNM, I didn't say you were bitter and angry, I merely said that you sounded that way. Also, there might be some people writing in who bash the L.A. haters but there are also many of the opposite. God forbid I say I like L.A., I get all these angry replies listing the many reasons why L.A. is bad. I did not bash you or anyone who doesn't like L.A., I stated the reasons I like L.A. If you took my benign comments negatively that's your issue. If you read my posts carefully you'll see that I have a good attitude about moving to CO, if I didn't I'd be giving you my list of reasons why I hate CO like you and many of the people on this post do about L.A. I said not one negative thing about CO (I'm not into bashing other states just because they're not the state I live in), the only thing remotely close to negative was that I hated the snow but CO isn't the only place you can find snow. I'm not "slighting" you for reporting what you see but you seem to be okay with assuming I'm going to "hate" CO inspite of the fact that I NEVER bashed CO. My "wait and let me see" mentality is the reason I'm moving to CO. If I hated CO I wouldn't be going at all. If I didn't have the "Californian attitude" that Rawlings seems to hate so much, I would be bashing CO and praising all the reasons why L.A. is so much better. But I'm not. Because L.A. isn't better; it's better for me. But I suppose it doesn't matter how many times or in how many ways I say that I'm not moving to CO with a bad attitude, those of you who hate L.A. will always find the negative in anything I write.

Regarding Hawaii, every place has its troubles, ILUVNM, I don't look at the world through rose colored glasses. and trust me, I've been to Hawaii many times myself and to many of the islands. It's gorgeous and the people were great to me. But that's must my opinion.

In regard to what Rawling wrote, well, let's just say that due to his and many other ugly, negative people on this post this is my last post and I won't be checking back so don't waste your time writing any ugly comments you want me to read. I hope I encounter people like Jazzlover and tfox when I move to CO and not the jaded, angry people that seem to write a good portion of these posts (ILUVNM excluded).

Well LAgirlatheart, if you happen to be reading, I truly wish you well in Colorado. I agree that there are some on here who are hateful and I have to butt heads with a few sometimes and I guess I took it wrong since I deal with these people too sometimes, sorry. I just wish everyone could just state their views and not have others bash them or comment bad about what someone said (not talking about you LAgirlatheart) and I also get so tired of having to stick up for liberals since it seems I feel like a solo liberal on here and since this forum has been taken over by Focus on the Family type of people lately. I dont know why it has to be an issue but it is. Someone in the future will ask "Where is a Dairy Queen in Fort Collins?" will get the answers "Fort Collins and Denver is all about big families and conservative Christians...blah, blah, blah..." or "You dont want to move to Colorado since it is too crowded" What in hades does that have to do with where a DQ is? Does anyone get my meaning? But that is how it is for some reason. Anyway, I am sorry LAgirlatheart, I really hope everything works out for you.

I get a kick out of how passionate ya'll are about your cities and states. Rock on! I learned about Fort Collins because it was rated number 1 best place to live for 2006. I think what I'll do is move to Fort collins, then if the best place to live for 2007 changes to another place, then i'll move there. I'll keep moving and moving to keep up. what do you think of that?

I grew up on CO from age 12 until I was 20. Then I moved to CA. I lived there for about 7yrs and moved to AZ where I've been since then. I might slowly work my way back to CO in the not too distant future.

All that being said; so what?

We all live in a country of movers. If nobody ever moved we'd not have the country today from 200yrs ago. They moved before us and will long after we are gone.

As for the attitudes; it cuts both ways. "We had this and that there" vs "It was all great until they moved here, wanna go for a Starbucks?" I think it's just called progress.

Probably what the Indians said about the White man too.

Man! That's a loaded question!

From MY viewpoint, I've run into too many Californians who were cold, uncaring, pretentious, or perhaps these individuals weer just extremely fearful of being found out or being vulnerable.??

There are GREAT, CARING individuals in Ca also! And I am referring to So. Cal. only. -Can't speak for the rest of Ca.

California is so beautiful and interesting and has so much going for it as a whole. Hopefully mankind will protect the wildlife and their dwindeling habitats! what's left of them! and park the systems. Things are certainly spinning the other direction in the So. Cal mountains! Everywhere in So Cal for that matter!

Too many illegals who get free health services, that I can't get because I "make too much $$," yet, .. I can't afford health insurance!

Too many people drive like they are the only people on the freeway, and own the darn thing!

What's so great about the ocean? It's ice cold and a little too salty for me!

Try buying a home there? Impossible unless you want to move to a very unsafe area!

Have you ever been on a So. Cal freeway ANY time of the day or night? ....YOU know why people want to leave!

Ca. WAS beautiful! The local mts are being raped as we speak! Who cares if the wildlife in Ca. has nowhere to go! JUST BUILD and make the all mighty dollar!

Getting the responses you wanted??

Default Denver also has polluted air

Hi! I was just reading this post and I wanted to correct some of the misinformation that I saw. We lived in Colorado for a year and a half. During that time my daughter and I developed breathing problems. Prior to this we lived in Florida and had no breathing problems. We were in perfect health before we moved there. We went to the best allergy and asthma specialist in Denver. He said that Denver has as many polluted air days as Los Angeles and that 1 out of 15 people in Denver has allergies and asthma. The air is NOT cleaner in Denver. Many days you cannot see the mountains and the smog hangs over the city. We ended up moving back to Florida and my daughter and I are breathing perfectly and do not need any of the medications that we needed in Colorado. I just wanted to make this clear to anyone that is considering moving here.

Your breathing may be better in Florida, but comparing Los Angeles air quality to Denver's is impossible. Check the air quality reports or go to Home - American Lung Association site and your assumptions will be proved wrong.

Unfortunately, Colorado seems to have quite a few of these types, too (and, no, they aren't all transplants from the west coast).
