mountain lions (Denver, Boulder, Louisville: neighborhood, living, suburbs)

Hello,

We live on the redwood coast in california. One would not think of this as mountain lion country but after living here 5 years, i can say it definitely is.

I have heard them mating in my back yard, have heard countless stories from locals and natives to this area. It is just part of life here that people see them crossing the street, find them on their front portch, roof, watch them chasing their cats, taking small dogs, scat and tracks in local, neighborhood parks, etc. I know this sounds ridiculous and unnatural, but we are right next to the sierras.

My point is; we aren't real comfortable with it!

I know there are lions in the mountains, and may be seen on the trails once in a while.

So I would like to ask if people have heard of problems like this in towns west and north of Denver, Boulder, any feedback is appreciated.

there are occasional reports of mountain lions in the suburbs, but animal control usually comes to the rescue and relocate the cats far far away.

There were several sightings in Louisville recently, and three incidents in Boulder (at least) in the last few months. A young child was attacked hiking with his family, and a little one was roaming a residential area next to the mountains, hanging out in people's yards.
