I think that paying more for license plates, when the simple one is included, is just a waste of money. Give the money to charity if you want to give your money away. That will provide real status and self worth.

My license plate conveys one idea---frugality.

I have to agree with you here. I never understood the point of vanity plates, but then again I'm not vein! To each his own...I suppose.

I have to agree--never owned one in my life. I do miss the county coding on the Colorado license plates--it was a shame when they scrapped that.

County coding is a nice touch. Florida had that when I was attending the University Of Tampa way back when. The lower the number, the bigger the population. Back then, Miami was #1, Jacksonville was #2, Tampa was #3, #4 was Clearwater-St Pete. It was cool to know what county the person was from. It made for a great conversation starter too.

agreed...wish I could have one of the old "M" plates for Boulder County....I do see a few around here and there, and some of the plates are so old they're barely legible.

rather than cheapen the value of a pioneer plate, the State should have just left it alone or scrapped it...but then Gov. Critter is desperate for revenue...

How can you cheapen something that has no intrinsic value to begin with? The state modified it to reflect it's true value.

True value of pioneer license paltes = zero!

The change only affects anyone foolish and/or vain enough to purchase one.

There are too many vanity series with the CO plates in general. The old white letters/green background plates are the true, longtimer status symbol now.

As I've brought up before, those of us here in Cañon City who are pickup truckers may have the dubious distinction of having "FKR-" series plates.

I used to play a renamed version of Slug Bug with my wife, as whenever I spotted a truck with an "FKR-" series plate, I'd shout out,..."******-truck!" At first it would startle her, but she barely bats an eyebrow these days.
