My husband and I are thinking about moving to Colorado. We are looking for a family neighborhood with a park. We have 3 kids (13, 6, and 3). We are an african american family and would like to be in a neighborhood with more african american families. Do you have any sugguestions? Is Aurora a good place to live? Also how is the job market?

I don't know of any neighborhoods with an especially high % of African American folk, but if you stick closer to the main metro areas of DEN and COS, the ratio will likely be higher than way out in the country.

treedonkey is correct. there are lots on nice neighborhoods in Colorado. I would suggest moving into a neighborhood that you and your kids fit into as far as the type of people you are and the way you handle yourselves. Race at least for me is irrelevant when someone is going to make a first impression. I understand wanting to live amongst people that are more like you, I would want the same thing, but if I moved to a neighborhood just to be around white people only to find that i look like them but don't fit in, i would be pi**ed. All I am saying is that good people accept good people and move to an area that is right for you, not just to fit in.

I am really dying to open up a can of worms here, but I'll just link an old thread instead.

Aurora is a good place to live, and if you think you'll be more comfortable in an area with more AA families, you'll be comfortable in Aurora. The job market in metro Denver is better than the nation's as a whole, but YMMV.

So is it racist for me to only want white neighbors?

Yes. Come on. I love and hate equally. I have meet allot of white people that i would hate as neighbors and met plenty of black, Indian and Asian people that i would be fortunate to have as neighbors. These days people are defined by who they are and how they act.
