Denver can be cheap, or it can be expensive. If you have to live in one of the "best" city neighborhoods or suburbs, it can be expensive. If you are willing to live in an average (or even slightly below average) suburban neighborhood (i.e. Thornton, Aurora, etc), it can be quite reasonable, even by Midwest standards.

IMO, if you want somewhere cheap in Denver, there is somewhere for you. If you want to live where "everybody else" lives, there is somewhere for you there too.

I agree with the above post. When we moved here we looked at COL calculators that all said it was more expensive here. We saw the homebuying shows on HGTV and gasped when we saw some of the home prices. We decided to move anyway figuring we would rather live in a crappy house or apartment in a great city and beautiful area rather than have a nice house in a city we didn't like. We were pleasantly surprised a lot of affordable "nice" areas. We found a nice newer home in Broomfield for a great price (under 200k). Every city has it's in demand areas but there always seems to be nice alternatives.

Default Mobile Home Parks

Try looking at Mobile Homes and Parks in the Loveland/Berthoud/Ft Collins area. 3bdr MHs (less than $40K) with lot fees less than 400.00/month are plentiful. Many parks have pools and playgrounds....
