I'm here as a travel nurse and my housing person can't seem to find me any kind of housing for my 13 week contract. I have two small fixed cats, which makes it harder, but it's apparent to me if I don't find something myself, I'll be spending the next 13 weeks in a crappy motel.

Does anyone have any suggestions? My total monthly housing budget is $1400 total for rent, utilities and any furniture rentals

I'm getting desperate. I want to unpack and settle in

Sorry Retro, but as someone who did the travel nurse thing, I suggested you get the housing squared away first. Never take an assignment without that situation resolved, or you will be doing exactly as you stated! There are companies out there that will do this to you, and if you let them, unfortunately your experience is compromised.

At this point I would suggest you start by looking at the rental agencies in town. You might consider posting an ad on craigslist too. Who knows, maybe something will happen. Have you asked around at the hospital yet? Maybe they know of some temporary housing. Grand Junction isn't a very big community, as I'm sure you are aware of now, and temporary housing is tough to come by. Best of luck and hopefully you don't spend the rest of your assignment living in a motel! Maybe you ought to consider an RV, seriously. Can you rent one within your budget and park it at an RV park? It may not be ideal, but could be better than a motel...just a thought!
