I am relocating from Baton Rouge, LA. I will be working downtown, and need some advice. I have a cat and a small 3 month old puppy. While I would like to live downtown (Capitol Places/Canalside), I am worried that I won't have places to take the puppy to get her energy out. I would prefer to find something around $1000/month or a bit less. Can anyone give me any insight on apartments downtown such as the ones I mentioned and the pet friendliness of these areas? Also, if downtown isn't feasible, what areas close to the downtown area would I be able to find a nice, small home with a yard for the puppy?'

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Lots of people walk their dogs right downtown in the central business district, and there's a dog park two or three miles up Main Street on North Main.

$1000 will get you a decent rental with a yard, near the dog-park in the Earlewood/Elmwood park area, just a couple miles from downtown.

If you're set on an apartment, I'd look into the Vista Lofts at Gervais/Pulaski. I know they accept pets.

You have Riverside Park right there near Canal side. We've had our dog out there and she loved it!
