Seems like these types of stores like to move to areas/developments that are already happening/ proven similiar to what urban outfitters did in the vista. Maybe after a bunch of independent stores move in housing is established and there is more going on at the stadium than just baseball.... maybe.

Yeah, Bull Street won't happen... I should not think something like Jordan Creek Town Center in Des Moines or The Fountains at Farah in El Paso wont happen because we suck so bad... I bet we just get a McDonalds and Applebees, so the people that are angry about the city spending a small amount of money on a ballpark will be right!

yawn. Still more months elapse and all we have to show for it is a BBQ place. Where are the baseball off-season announcements that we were promised last year? The new season is well underway and still no word except for the morgue restaurant. Sorry, but that is not what we signed up for when we were being courted for our tax money. Those citizens at today's meeting who are angered by the tortoise-like progress have legitimate complaints. Okay, so we don't have 81 retail or restaurant tenants signed up, but how about 8? How about 4? I am genuinely surprised that more people haven't examined the money trail more thoroughly to see how much the citizens of Columbia have been misled.

Yes, let's hope Scott Hall's Bone-In outstanding reputation isn't brought down by this boondoggle.
And now Hughes has added to the list of excuses the impact on retail by Amazon. As we all know most retail developments here and elsewhere have ground to a screeching halt (tongue firmly in cheek). I doubt Amazon has prevented all restaurant and nonretail services that could have/should have/would have located in this development by now. Maybe Sean Spicer can become their spokesperson after his Washington days are over. I would think that Hughes would be able to bring at least a few of the retail/restaurant tenants he has in Greenville similar to the way Simon gets previous tenants to buy into their other malls.

Retailers are mores attracted to two similar developments by Braves stadium in Atlanta (over a million sq feet of retail) and Project Jackson in North Augusta where the greenjackets are moving along with$200 million in retail . Bullstreet was sold to public as greatest development in region and it's simply not

I was at Metropolitan yesterday. You can see my van in the shot. I'm hoping we get a Metropolitan style development complex at BullStreet in the future.

I think people still forget the 20 year development part.

I live a couple blocks away. And agree with the 20 year development. I know this is going to take a while. Talk it up! Give people time the spread the word and get hyped up. Let them get the infrustructre up so that when investors/developers come to scope it out they'll see the nice roads and lack of run down, sketchy buildings. Give it a minute. I know he said a couple years but we know our city better than he does. We're what? 3 years into it and we have an awesome baseball stadium, a cool office building, a tech village and plans for several residential components PLUS a medical University?
