Go grab some lunch at some restaurant in some little town in some place like Newberry. Or go stuff your face at Shealy's in Batesburg-Leesville. Then walk around downtown while the partial eclipse is ongoing.

Being out in the sticks for the couple hours leading up also gives you a leg up to drive in a hurry to another place if a storm pops up as well.

There are between 2 and 5 solar eclipses every year, each one visible only in a limited area.

I waited too long to look for a solar filter for my camera. I think I'm going to have to make a homemade one.

Lookin' like it's gonna be cloudy tomorrow like it is today. Considering driving to Greenville. Traffic might suck but I'll probably go for it.

The forecast says mostly sunny with only a 20% chance of afternoon showers. I don't know where you saw it was going to be cloudy.

1 Weather app and many other sources. And they were right. Big ol' honkin' cloud blotted out the total eclipse. Tho' the preliminary was great. Still super special.

People reporting via Twitter that some street lights did in fact come on.
