I would highly suggest the Hampton Inn on Gervais Street in downtown. It's in the middle of Columbia's dining and entertainment district, the Congaree Vista district, and enjoys one of the highest occupancy rates in the chain. The prices are also reasonable and you'll be close to all of the downtown amenities and attractions.

Default good hotel

Dear Sally,
What part of Columbia are you primarily looking into when you come in January? The hampton inn (downtown) is a good one but if you are going to be doing some searching in the Irmo, Lexington, Chapin, Blythewood, NE section of town.... there are other nice hotels that are closer. Let me know what area and I'll tell you the best hotel.
