Does anyone here use Consumer Cellular from the Irmo area?

Their prices seem to be FAR better than Verizon. How is the service?

I assume they don't run their own towers. See whose lines they share and that will tell you level of service you can expect.

Dem called it. Many cell providers use other companies networks and some use more than one network. You have to drill down to find what network they use and the coverage that network has. I am in Lexington and my girlfriend is in Dixiana. We both use Virgin Mobile but on separate accounts and both are happy with our plans. I forget which network they use.

I do not consider any one company/plan to be technically superior to another but one plan might be cost wise better (especially if multi users on same plan) and better for a specific service such as data amount/usage. Both our plans offer unlimited phone and text but data has some speed limits. I rarely use data as I use my computer mainly for such so I never approach data speed slow down.. My GF peaks her data speed out all the time as she does not have a computer.

I pay $35.00 per month (per phone) for unlimited talk/text. 5mb of data at high speed per month than data slows until next month but data is still there. Check them out.

I expect the coverage in Irmo to be as good as the overall Columbia area coverage.
