Does anyone know the typical cost of having plantation shutters installed in the Columbia area? Also any recommendation on companies to do such?
Thanks

OK

I got proposals from 3 local companies. I have three 30sq ft windows and one 15sq ft window (105sq ft total). They range from $2,600 or $24.76 per sq ft to $3450 or $32.85 per sq ft. One quote was right in the middle at $3000 or $28.57 per sq ft. All 3 are for wood, not man made and I see little difference in the quality and reliability of the 3 companies. Problem is they are all quoting 10 week delivery. I went with the $2600 proposal.

UPDATE

I initially had nice valances over venetian blinds or vertical blinds. I took the valances down, filled the rod screw holes, and touched up the paint. The plantation shutter company took down and disposed of the blinds. The plantation shutters are single wide, top and bottom adjustable on the single windows (thus upper and lower adjustable blind panels) and double wide (two doors) on the wider windows with top and bottom on both side adjustable (thus 4 adjustable panels, two upper, two lower.) All open wide (like a door) to be able to get at the windows for opening/cleaning. Mine are 3 1/2 inch, wood, white.

I am very pleased. They make for a simple look which I like. They let in more light and are easily adjustable for privacy reasons. I am very happy so I will name the vendor. Carolina Blind and Shutter, Inc. Cayce SC, 803-796-5564. They have a web site.
