I will be in Ft Jackson from September 09- November 09 doing an Army school and I would like to rent a houseboat for the two months I am there. I have been deployed for 36 months out of the last 72 so I would like to spend my free time during this school on the lake. Anyone have any ideas? You can email me joshswink11b@hotmail.com

well, if you're willing to commute about 45 mins each way, you're in luck. lake murray is on the exact opposite side of town from ft. jackson!

i have no idea if there are any rentable house boats there, though. perhaps you can look at the lake murray website: Lake Murray, South Carolina

then again, maybe i'm not thinking outside of the box -- there may be other bodies of water around, and i just don't know about them. you might want to see if lake marion is closer???

Gosh no; Lake Marion is much further from Fort Jackson than Lake Murray. Lake Murray is the closest with Lake Wateree second. Check at Lake Murray Marina; I know they have boat rentals.
