I will be living part time in the Columbus area sometime this coming summer. i like to windsurf. Anyone know of good sailing sites nearby (e.g. Lakes) that generate some wind? Also, I prefer sailing with others. So, does anyone else in the area like to sail?

Lake Harding would be your best bet. Not too sure about windsurfing though.

Thanks for your prompt responses.

Have you seen sail boats on Lake Harding during the summer months. And if so, do they seem to be clipping along, or just slogging it. This would give me a clue as to whether or not there is sufficient wind for windsurfing on the lake. My guess is that the winter months probably have some fair winds as they precede the cold fronts coming in, but I'm not that keen on wearing thick wetsuits to sail. 12-15 knots of wind could do it for me. 10 knots is marginal.

Thanks for the welcome. I do look forward to spending time in Columbus. My daughter and son-in-law are moving there this summer, and I have received quite a bit of positive feedback from them about the revitalized downtown. The only question I have is do I ship my sailing gear there?

Any further input would be appreciated.

Try the section of the riverwalk off victory drive/downtown.

I see a lot of sailboats over there.

Welcome to Columbus. There are sail boats on Lake Harding. The lake is beautiful. Lots of cool islands to explore. It is very busy in the summer time. You will love the area. Great outdoor activities, shopping, restaurants, etc.
