I am wanting to move to Columbus, Ga in a few months and my first year want to stay in a apartment until I know what side of town I want to rent or buy a home. I want something nice and clean but not to expensive. I also want it to be in a safe neighborhood fairly close to shopping don't want to drive far for groceries.

Does anyone know of how much groceries, gas, electric, internet is? I am doing research before I do move to the area and do plan to come visit for atleast 4 days to check the area out before I just pack up and move.

I am from Fl and just want to move somewhere else. I really hate Fl. We don't want to be no more than about 3 hrs away from my husbands kids so we can come visit them.

I would look into Greystone Properties, Thayer Properties and Woodruff - they have some great apartments. Regarding Internet, Phone and Cable I would suggest looking at WOW! (WOW! Locations).

Hope you enjoy Columbus as much as we do - let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you. Is it nice there? Is traffic bad? How is the job market? I read on one of the forums Columbus was getting more job opperyunities in the area.

Columbus is a nice medium-size city that offers just about anything any other city of this size would offer. I would say that Columbus has much nicer facilities compared to other GA cities, namely our RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, Civic Center, and Convention Center. Traffic isn't too bad but it depends on what you are comparing it to. There are plenty of job opportunities due to the large corporate base. I would look into Aflac, TSYS, Synovus, Carmike Cinemas, NCR, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia to name a few. What's your background?

In all fairness to this poster I think you should also mention crime/unemployment rates etc.
Rather than to name a few companies I believe you mentioned any and all that are even in the running for consideration with Carmike being a slight stretch.
