Yes, but this building fits into Columbus' vibe more and will blend in more with the surroundings than 5 story apartment style dorms. It's a good fit for Columbus. I think something like you were wishing for would have seemed out of place in Columbus. Columbus overall has shorter buildings, so it fits. Although I would have preferred something that looked more like apartments as well, it is still a nice design. I like it.

True. It's a step backwards as far as building height goes., and I think the city really needs things to be added for height, not the opposite.

I wonder what that picture and that statement had to do with Jamesjb131's comment... Either way you look at it, there is a 6 story building being demolished for a 3 story building to be built in its place. Now which one is more visible? Obviously it would be the 6 story building, so when you remove something that is 6 stories and replace it with some 3 stories shorter, then it would naturally have less of an impact on the "skyline."

It was never that visible to begin with. And the new building adds density to Broadway and 12th street.

Ya, but I'm pretty sure his point was that the new building will be even less visible than the never-that-visible old building, which is true.

Meh,the density from the new building makes up for it.

Much rather see this building downtown. This is going to bring tons of people downtown. Great investment for the city.
