Another win for LaGrange/Troup County!!!
The first phase of the Sentury Tire expansion would involve a more than $500 million investment and the creation of more than 600 jobs, sources told the Chronicle in July. When fully built-out, the investment could rise to $1 billion and the workforce would swell to “several thousand.”

The plant would bring about 100 research and development jobs and include a “proving ground' — a secure track where companies test prototypes and unreleased products.

Sentury wants to locate near the Kia Motors factory in West Point, Ga., sources said.

Sentury will put the plant in Callaway South Industrial Park, a 1,600-acre industrial site adjacent to the Callaway Airport. The park is home to Sewon Precision, a major Kia supplier. Callaway South is designated as a CSX Select Site, a property identified as a capable location for manufacturing facilities along the CSX rail network.

Sentury Tire (formerly the Sentaida Group) makes tires for cars and aircraft, including the landing gear tire for the Boeing 737. The company markets its automotive tires under the Landsail and Delineate brands.

Sentury plans to open a “highly automated smart tire factory” in the United States in 2017, President Lanny Lin told Tire Business in December. Sentury is budgeting “several hundred million dollars” to build the plant, which would produce 10 million tires annually.

Last August, a Georgia delegation led by the state’s economic development chief Chris Carr visited Sentury’s China headquarters and met with Lin.

LaGrange will be added to the CSA very soon. Just imagine the commute pattern between the two cities.
