Yes, no roof top bar/restaurant, but there will be meeting space on the top floor, I believe.

A roof top restaurant/bar would recoup the additional cost (investment) involved. At the very least, the conference room should have a "hospitality" (bar) area available for those who want it for after-meeting mingling, networking, and socializing.

Agreed. The loss of a rooftop restaurant sounds like a terrible business decision. The views would be amazing. Look how well the rooftop bar at Smoke has done. People flock to establishments like that.

Very true!! Hopefully the hotel owners, investors, and developers will see these comments, and rethink their plans.

So here are the images of the new Hampton Inn Uptown Columbus. A lot shorter than originally projected.

I like the rendering. It should definitely stand out. Wish it was a floor or two taller but I’ll take it.

It's 1 floor shorter than the original renders, but actually 1 floor taller than the 2nd set of renders that came out. I really love the first renderings, but it's just far to expensive. At $20-22 million, they'd never make their money back on a 88-room hotel.

I like how the Broadway side is a brick facade and the overall style is a bit more contemporary than I thought it'd be.

It will be a good addition to the area.

Just confused on why it costs $22 million to build an 88-room hotel? That’s $250k per room. Just seems way off. The design looks modern and is a step away from the mundane brick look of everything else downtown. Hopefully this sets the tone for modern architecture downtown.

You have to remember that they paid $1.25 million (same with AC, they paid $1 million), have to tear it down, and they have to build a parking garage. They're probably sitting at $4-5 million with just those items. Not quite as easy as stick construction on a $100,000 lot somewhere in North Columbus. I do believe the $20-22 million included more than 88 rooms, and roof top bar, possibly even some retail that faced the street to cover up the parking.
