Only 313 parking spaces for 226 units AND the upcoming retail and restaurants in a town where public transporation is so crappy that only those in generational poverty actually bother to use it?

The enigma of a self proclaimed hipster complaining about needing more parking in an urban location.

The irony is too much, but I doubt lethal will understand it.

Let's just say this, there are code requirements and units/spaces standards that were used in determining the number of parking spaces for this project.

I wouldnt mind the amount of parking if Columbus actually had good enough public transportation that its actually feasible to go anywhere in town without being too inconvenienced. You will hear me criticizing antiparking posters in the Atlanta forum all the time until MARTA goes to the OTP suburbs where housing is more affordable.

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The grand opening for Columbus’ newest development was held Tuesday.

The Rapids at Riverfront Place presents the largest single real estate investment in the history of the W.C. Bradley Company.

“It’s an exciting day,” said Pace Halter, COO of W.C. Bradley Real Estate. “This is the first of what we hope to be four phases of Riverfront Place. We have three additional phases that will come following this one, but getting the first one up and open is super exciting for the company. It’s kind of a culmination of a lot of really hard work to get here and we’re excited to finally have it open.”

"This is really a high class building that will attract people from not just Columbus, but we hope also some people from outside of Columbus to come here, live here, work here, and play here," said Marc Olivie, president and CEO of the W.C. Bradley Company.

From luxury apartments to retail shops, the $55 million, five story building is designed to over look the Chattahoochee Valley, the RiverWalk, and Swift Park. Tenants have already moved into the property.

That's good news. What makes you think it's going to be a hyatt?

A site worker that I know personally told me Hyatt or Hilton will be the brand of the hotel.

I hope it's a hyatt. Something like an andaz would be awesome. I know it would be a stretch.

A Hyatt Place hotel sounds feasible. They have been going up in several Southern downtowns lately.
