Hopefully, the city will be helping out to alleviate traffic problems there. I think the city and gdot should put some input on the way they design the roads for the area and keep it from being too close to the highway (I'm thinking about the future for I-14) the city has fallen behind on thinking about future growth and traffic problems in that area for a could be interstate someday.

I sure hope that they are putting real planning and effort into the I-14 initiative but there’s not much indicating that they are...at least not to my knowledge, but maybe I can be corrected.

There is a town hall meeting at Midland Middle School on Thursday at 6pm to discuss the project.

I just hope they come up with a good solution for the traffic there. It's a great place for it, just the traffic is already bad there.

I also hope they bring in some good higher end retail at that center. We have enough standard grocery stores with Wal-Mart there and several others right down the road, so I'm hoping for something like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or Earth Fare. For the Bix Box store I think that side of town would be a great place for another Target, at least it won't be a Walmart lol.

I just don’t understand all of the “traffic is already bad” comments. It is mildly congested for about an hour each day. Worst case you have to wait at a stop light twice. I have commuted from Harris to Columbus for 25 years and while it certainly acknowledge that is has become more congested but it is hardly a major issue. I do agree that they need to have a long range traffic management plan but this development will not push congestion to Atlanta like traffic. Also, this development will take several years to build out.

Don't get too happy about this project. The developer changed their plans. Now were looking at more residential than retail.

I don't see a mixed-use section with apartments above and ground retail as a negative at all, if that's what the updated middle section indicates, IMO that's a huge positive gain in this project. Now the retention pond needs a foot bridge across the center more than ever.

I see it as a negative because this will be your usual nail and coffee shop on the ground floor. Nothing to rave about. The grocery anchor is another thing. If they can't lure Krogers back into the market, then it will be another publix's or maybe renfroe's.
