THREAD NOT INTENDED TO STIR UP RACIAL CONTROVERSY

Shaw High School is a majority black school despite the fact that North Columbus is only about 20% black. Do many white people in the Northeast Columbus/Midland area send their kids to private school or something?

Always been like that because lof East Columbus. Never heard of a NE Columbus. Sounds made up by the powers in charge.

Shaw's district runs south to Miller Road, the black population in the area between Warm Springs Road and Flat Rock Rd, south of JR Allen is much more than 20% black. The next census will probably show that area pretty close to majority minority. The student population is only just barely majority black at 52%, back when I went there 15 years ago it was more like 65% black majority and the zoning map dipped much farther south, I had a friend who lived next to Forrest Road Elementary!

Also I bet the white population is on average older than the black population in Shaw's district.

Remember that this is Columbus where the district you live in really doesn't matter, parents could be sending their children to CHS of course, or almost any other high school in the county if the student is accepted into that school's magnet program.

Finally, yeah there are plenty of students of Brookstone, St. Anne's, and Calvary who live in Shaw's district.
