Sadly, it looks like we are at a point of needing to put my Dad into a nursing home. I don't have the slightest clue how to go about doing that. Anyone here with experience that might have advice to give would be appreciated.... which nursing homes to avoid, which ones are good, etc. My Dad is 95 y.o., has dementia and has become about 95% helpless very quickly (like in the past few days). He and my Mom live with us and I do have CNA's that come out for 4 hours a day to assist, but it's getting to where he is so helpless that even with my help, it's difficult for 2 of us to move him around.

Not looking forward to this. I never wanted it to come to this, but I don't see any other way. If anyone has any suggestions on what might've worked for you keeping your loved one at home, then I'm open to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

Don’t know the fiances involved, but if you pay the facility and you know the money will eventually run out, make sure the facility will accept Medicaid. Some don’t. Most hospitals have a Social Services agent and this individual can be very helpful at least when I went thru this with my Mother.

Visiting Angels only deals with VA cases.

My grandparents went to Magnolia Manor. The staff on the dementia wing was very professional and attentive. This was a decade ago I’m not sure how they are now but you awant to give them a look.
