I'll be visiting your fine city in mid-October, and was wondering if Dublin is a great part of the greater Columbus area to spend the weekend as it relates to nightlife, restaurants, hotels and yes, a nice sportsbar?

I stayed at the Embassy Suites on Corporate Exchange Drive in Columbus in 1999 to attend tOSU's dismantling of my Bruins at the Horseshoe, but I'll be driving in from Chicago, and am thereby looking for suggestions about weekending in Dublin.

Thanks!

Nightlife in Dublin? Not so much. Restaurants and hotels? Yes, of the chain variety. Sportsbars? Yes, very much so. All of Columbus and the burbs of Columbus are full of Sportsbars, it is verging on ridiculous. Dublin is for families who like strip malls and chain restaurants, while there is nothing inherently wrong with that, I just wouldn't exactly call it a "cultural" city despite the relatively diverse population.

Dublin is an upscale suburb in the Columbus area. Like many upscale suburbs in this country, you won't find much nightlife or entertainment there. It is a very peaceful and quiet area. Go downtown area if you want nightlife

I agree with coach123. It's a great community to live in, but there isn't an active nightlife. You can find food and sportsbars on every corner but if you are looking for clubs, live bands, etc...you'll want to take a trip downtown. The good thing is Dublin is only about 15-20 minutes to downtown, depending on the traffic and time of day, but it isn't a far commute if you get a hotel in Dublin.

Dublin does not have much nightlife if that is what you are looking for, however it is a very nice suburb of Columbus. (An ideal place to live) but if you want to experience REAL nightlife, pretty woman, great food, nice attractions then you want to visit DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS. It's about 15-20 minutes from Dublin. In the summer months there are also ALOT of different festivals going on, examples of this would be rib and jazz fest, com fest, asian fest etc... they even have a gay pride in the short north art district which is located in downtown columbus as well.
