I plan to Move to Columbus Ohio wiithin The next 6months. But, Being that it will be my first time on my own and leaving home im quite excited but at the same time im not losing a grip on reality. Im trying to figure out how to do this whole moving thing, Im already aware of all possibilities and have takin them into consideration but I feel like im missing somethings...I got down the budget part,apartment(w/location) and other important details, except the job part along with other mind plaguing questions. Im aware that i would need to have a secured job before I go. Im just not sure on if i should start looking now? being that its so hard to find jobs, or should i wait? Or would it be cheaper to drive my car there or tow it along with the truck? And as far as the City goes?- How is the genereal job market there? The Night Life? Basically Steps that need to be taken when Someone is Moving out of State? Please Help LOL..

THANKS!

It really depends on what type of night life and where you are looking. It also depends on the type of job you are looking for.

Columbus has a better job market than most of the state right now, but by no means do I consider it flourishing. I'd start looking at least 3 months out...depending on what type of job you are looking for.

I tend to think Columbus has a decent night life, but it depends on what you're comparing it to! =P

It all depends on what kind of job market your looking in. I'm in healthcare and it's pretty difficult to get a job here. I'm actually relocating to florida in 3 weeks because I couldn't get a job here. I'm 24 and think the night life is pretty good. Campus area, short north, and arena district have a lot to choose from, depending if you want a bar or club scene. There is a lot of stuff for young people to do in Columbus. If it wasn't for the job market and crappy winters I would probably stay.

Ya if you can get a job in Columbus then I would say you are okay, other than having to put up with nothern cold weather.

Columbus is a large metro and has a lot to do, lots of shopping (local and national stores), urban neighborhoods, lots of art/music/nightlife, restaurants etc.

As in anywhere, though, you need to get out and learn what areas have things you like and find out about a lot of the hidden gems here. Unlike some other larger cities things do not just pop out in front of you, you have to search them out sometimes.

If you are the kind of person that likes places to walk, activities, and possibly a nice but more urban environment then I highly suggest moving into somewhere in the central city or innerring suburbs. You will find easier access to nightlife/coffe shops/etc. I find transplants that move further out, and are looking for a more active life, find it boring and harder to meet people.
