Modern Witches, Witch Forum and Meetings in Columbus Ohio for October, and Group Info.
Sybil Leek wrote books on Occult and Esoteric Subjects she is a famous witch of English history.
Sybil Leek was born on February 22 (but the year she was born I have seen varies from 1922 and 1977 is printed on her funeral card but sources suggest it was a misprint) from England and her grandmother was Russian and taught her divination and her father taught her of the power of herbs, taught her about animals and the like. She had little formal schooling and most of her schooling was done from home but she had regular visitors to her home including the famous Aleister Crowley. It is thought that a 16th Century ancestor of hers was persecuted for being a witch but her family has roots stemming from southern Ireland dating back to the 12th Century according to an article published found at witchcraft and witches.com. This is a brief history of a famous witch from England who was also a famous psychic and powerful witch because of her roots in the craft. It also goes to show you that witches were being prosecuted in England dating back to the 16th Century. In the United States we had the memorable Salem Witch Trials and a modern witch who is a practicing witch and lawyer in Massachusetts, Lori Cabot has a shop dedicated to the craft where you can purchase spells and supplies. I think spells are stronger if they are conducted by the witch with what the witch personally gathers to make the spell a stronger spell and enforce your will be done, it is best if you gather supplies, envision, and carry the process all the way through but these long time practicing witches that pack up spells for sale have charged the objects inside with their energy and have crafted the candles in the correct phases of the moon so it can save you time as well as energy if you buy pre-charged candles from specialty stores and it also makes it easier for those who are less experienced or beginners to have correctly mixed supplies, with all instructions, and layout readily available. These options may be a little pricey but you have peace of mind of knowing you have everything you need as well as knowing everything was charged and created/gathered at the best magical time. Several experienced witches also are authors and I am interested in learning about existing authors, new authors, the subjects each author writes about and how it has helped us and can help us with our workings in the craft, in the kitchen, as medical supplements for our health, etc. I have held several of these discussion groups with like-minded people and people who are curious about the craft. We gather about once or twice a month. Sometimes we have two group nights and the men have a night and the women have a night on those nights we also may watch a movie and have a small potluck where everyone brings a dish (carrots and dip, chips, finger sandwiches, popcorn, tea are some items people bring to our potlucks/movie nights and when we have book discussion groups we usually have tea and fruit crackers/biscuits with the tea or cider for seasonal fall gatherings. It is a lot of fun and we have had great success in the past so if you have a book that is craft related or astrology related and would like to share your findings, views on the book, or an excerpt from it feel free to post and share with reference included. You are welcome to bring your book to the discussion and if you have used it for crafts, or kitchen herbal creations, you welcome to bring those items as sort of a “show and tell” when it is your turn to discuss your book, if you are shy and are just interested in attending let the group coordinator know that you don’t want to participate or just want to observe and you will not be asked any questions but if you like you may introduce yourself by first name at the group intro. We all have a brief circle intro before getting started and it gives all members and new comers a chance to know everyone’s name, briefly what they enjoy (example, herbal healing, books, reading, tea and meditation – are just some examples of what a lot of our fellow members enjoy). If you are there to observe and learn about herbs or interesting books you can always say “Hi, I am James and I am curious about books, herbs, etc. and wanted to check out the discussion.” And you will be welcome to ask any questions or just sit in and mingle afterward if you wish. The meeting usually last about an hour to hour and a half and all guests are welcome to shop or mingle at the meeting places afterward. We meet at public parks, Barnes and Noble, and several other public locations around the city, we try to be centralized but often times we structure meeting as close to members as possible so one month it may be on the east side of Columbus, the following meeting may be on the west side, changing locations gives everyone a chance to have a meeting somewhat close to them, and sometimes meetings will be held 2ce in a month and that is to accommodate members, so the same material will be discussed but meeting place is the only thing that may be changed. You are welcome to email me for meeting schedules and RSVP in advance. Thanks for your interest in our Columbus Witches Chapter I look forward to speaking with you soon!
