I am considering a move to Columbus from DC for a better job opportunity as I feel I am underemployed out here. It seems like columbus is a nice city and the cost of living is low too. Nightlife is important for me as I'm a 28yr old single guy.

1. If i'll be working at limited brands, where should i consider renting an apartment. I want a good balance between commute to work and proximity to the happening places. What's the price range for a furnished 1 br house or 1 room in a house?
2. How is the interracial dating scene in Columbus (I'm from India). DC is pretty good in that category.
3. I own a car and parking space is important wherever i live.
4. Are the winters worse than DC? Seems like it might be the same.

I'm just going to comment on #2: if you have social skills, you won't have any problems getting dates from members of cultures that date. There are people from all over the world who are studying or working at OSU.

I recommend joining the volunteer, professional, social activities of your choice, rather than focusing on the bars. It's not impossible to meet women in bars, but your chances of meeting a woman with advanced aspirations and professional goals are much higher at things like Picnic with the Pops or Red Cross Blood Drives or getting introductions from people at work.

Just so you know: there is a significant population from India around the Columbus metro area. A lot of families live in and around the city of Dublin: there are Indian groceries, restaurants, and social events.

That's the biggest complaint I hear from some of my younger co-workers from various countries: they aren't finding quality women at the bars. Once they start attending other sorts of venues, they have much better luck.

I assume you will be working at the HQ on the Northeast Side? The only area around there that might be okay is Easton. Otherwise, I would just try closer to Downtown. I'd look at Downtown, the Arena District or the Short North. Those are the best areas near nightlife. Commuting from these areas would be relatively easy. You'd just take 670 east and you would come out on 270 not too far from the exit for the Limited HQ. I'd say no more than 25 minutes on a normal day. Parking would probably be the most difficult in the Short North, but most apartments/houses should have parking.

I don't know prices for furnished places, just because there aren't as many out there.

You shouldn't have any problems with interracial dating. I know several interracial couples in Columbus, myself, and I've never known it to be any issue.

Columbus gets more snow on average each winter than DC, but it doesn't get the huge snowstorms that DC gets. Columbus' normal biggest snowfall each winter is like 6" or less. And I think Columbus probably does a better job at snow removal.
