Hello, everyone. This is another relocation post-- I've read the others and gotten some great information! I am a grad student who will be beginning OSU next fall. I'm looking to rent a house near OSU's campus (or close by bus) in a great school district with a lot of diversity. I'm a grad student (in other words, poor) with two little girls, so I need a safe, quieter neighborhood (don't want to live with the undergrads). Any information would be great, thanks in advance.

I think your best bet is either Upper Arlington area, or Grandview area. Both have old houses, esp Grandview. But their school districts are Excellent, probably the best in central ohio.

Are your little girls in school yet? If so, (as mentioned by the other posters) Grandview and Upper Arlington have great schools. There are quite a few rentals in both areas, though I don't know what renting a single-family house would cost. You would probably have more luck with a duplex. However, prior to signing a lease, verify that it's actually G-View or UA schools.

I think Clintonville would also be a great option for you. Columbus Public Schools can be very good or very bad. The NW schools are generally better, so either elementary school your girls would go to would be rated "excellent." If you search the forum you will find lots of information on this topic.

It's much easier to access OSU by the #2 bus from Clintonville than it would be to take the bus from Grandview or UA. If you look at Clintonville try to stay north of Arcadia to avoid living around a lot of younger students.
